Grace School Update: 2020-2022

2020-22 Update

$150,105 from Pax Dei for Nuba supported the following at Grace Secondary School

  • Construction of temporary dormitories and classrooms (pending construction of a permanent facility
  • Teaching staff is now fully paid and has been transitioned to college educated teachers (vs informally trained volunteers)
  • Student body grew from 30 to 100 students
  • Ezekiel Youhanna Paja hired as as headmaster (formerly a teacher at Grace before the original campus was destroyed by the Government of Sudan)
  • In a separate grant to the Diocese of Kadugli, Relay Trust (Anglican Foundation in the UK) has committed nearly $1M for the construction of a new 84-acre permanent campus. This is part of the Relay 200 initiative to help the 200 most impoverished Anglican Dioceses train and develop leaders at the grassroots level
  • In support of the movement to the new campus, Pax Dei for Nuba has committed to supporting the growth of the teaching and support staffing at Grace School to accommodate projected growth to over 400 students by 2025.
  • The 84 acres were donated to the Diocese of Kadugli by the local community, and includes an excellent borehole that will supply water to the school and the surrounding area.
  • Construction of the school is underway and will be completed in stages over three years.
