President al-Bashir was driven out of office in 2019. In September, 2020, the provisional government signed a Framework for Peace that outlines principles for a new national constitution that casts aside tribal rivalries, religious persecution, and corruption among national leaders. While this is a good step, it is far from sufficient for guaranteeing that peace will last. The Nuba people must now learn how to ”live the peace” across all dimensions of life: from the home all the way to the national leadership.
For the past decade, Bishop Andudu has served as the “spiritual father” for the leadership of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Army/North. This leadership is comprised of Muslim, Christian, and traditional African religions, and they understand how difficult the challenge will be. Drawing on his degree in Peace Building from Eastern Mennonite University, Andudu conducts peace-building workshops for these leaders, as well as with local leaders to help them practice ways of leadership that will respect and promote the well-being of all people.
