Diocese Sustainability

The Cost (2021-2023)
$83,000

In spite of Bishop Andudu’s exile to the US,  the Kadugli Diocese is a thriving network of Anglican Churches in Sudan.  Andudu travels to the region several times a year (covertly traveling over bombed-out roads from South Sudan). The day-to-day work of the Diocese is done by Nuba refugee leaders in Juba, South Sudan and in the Nuba Mountains. Through an elaborate grass-roots communications network, Bishop Andudu stays abreast of the challenges faced by the people in the Nuba Mountains, and he provides direction and guidance to these local leaders who work under his guidance.

Until the formation of Pax Dei for Nuba, these local leaders worked without pay, imposing great risk and hardship on themselves and their families. Over the next 3-5 years, Pax Dei for Nuba is committed to providing support and compensation to these individuals to allow them to continue their important work, while providing for their families.

Because Andudu refused to endorse President al-Bashir, the Kadugli Diocese was specifically targeted by Bashir’s forces in the most recent civil war from 2011 to 2019. The infrastructure and income sources that the Diocese relied on for its day-to-day activities were destroyed.

Pax Dei for Nuba works with the Kadugli Diocese leaders to restore their functioning capability in the short term and to enable the Diocese to move toward self-sustainability over the next several years.

A Plan for Renewal (2021-2021)

Silvaster Philip and Kaloni Mohammed
  • Provide compensation for Sylvaster Philip (Diocese Liaison Officer, and Kaloni Mohammed (Diocese Secretary) through 2023, until the Diocese can support them through its own income sources
  • Rebuild the Diocese Guest house in Kadugli: A source of income for the Diocese.
